Oriental is the term given to perfumes containing fragrances from the East (ingredients like the exotic blossom notes, spices, balsams, resinscomponents). The notes in the "Oriental" concept conjure up associations with the legendary fragrances of the Orient, as typified by the sweet balms and resins of Arabia and precious spices from India.
The traditional Arab community has always been known to patronize the strong, woody fragrances from time immemorial like Oudh, Bukhoor etc. However it would certainly be wrong to conclude that Oriental perfumes are especially popular in the Orient. On the contrary, they enjoy great success in the Occident, i.e. in Europe and the United States especially.
Current trend has been that international fragrances are launching their oriental lines to cater to ever growing demand of the middle eastern region.
